Jeff Shaw, AIA LEED AP BD+C | Principal

Jeff Shaw joined Context Architecture in 1999 as a designer. He quickly made a mark on the firm, rising through the ranks to become an Associate in 2007 and then Principal in 2009. In 2014, Jeff was named President of the company. Jeff's recent work includes several major projects for the firm, including a new Weston Police Station, the historic preservation of the Town of Arlington's Central Fire Station and restoration of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, a National Historic Landmark in the City of Boston. Jeff’s award-winning design work has been celebrated by a number of renowned institutions, including the American Institute of Architecture's Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art, and Architecture, and the Massachusetts Historical Commission. He is a registered architect in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut, and holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University. In 2009 he received his LEED AP accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council. Jeff is currently Chair of Boston’s Park Street Church Facilities Committee as well as a member of their Finance & Administration Committee. He is also a member of the Boston Preservation Alliance’s Development Committee, Preservation Massachusetts, and the Boston Society of Architect’s Building Enclosure Council. 

Christopher Logan, AIA | Associate

Chris joined Context Architecture in 1999 and was made an Associate in 2001. He has managed a number of the firm’s municipal and religious projects in towns and cities across Massachusetts, ranging from facility master plans to new and renovated structures. Chris' recent work includes the preservation/adaptive reuse of North Andover Town Hall and the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Boston. He is currently Project Manager for new fire stations in Leicester, Westford and Burlington, MA. Prior to joining Context, Chris was an Associate at two other firms where he managed educational and institutional projects. He is a registered Architect in Massachusetts, and received his Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie-Mellon University. Chris has served as an Alternate Commissioner for the Beacon Hill Architectural Commission, and as a member of the 74 Joy Street Property Committee, the Building Committees at The Park School and Beaver Country Day School, a board member at the Beacon Hill Nursery School, and a Trustee at Beaver Country Day School.

Ellen Light, AIA LEED AP BD+C | Project Manager

Ellen is a Context Project Manager and was responsible for the new Police Station for the Town of Weston. Her other recent projects include a church renovation and planning and design of a new public safety complex. She has more than 25 years of experience as an architect specializing in the management and design of sustainable academic and institutional projects. Prior to joining Context, Ellen’s professional experience was comprised of several public school renovations and additions for towns and cities across the state of Massachusetts, planning studies for both institutional buildings and public schools, as well as commercial and retail projects. Ellen is a registered Architect in Massachusetts, and holds a Master of Architecture from Columbia University, an MBA from Simmons School of Management, and a Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University. When not at Context, Ellen volunteers her time as a member of the Newton Design Review Committee and the Boston Society of Architects.

Zeljko Toncic, AIA LEED AP | Project Manager

Zel is a versatile Project Manager who brings 30 years of hands-on project experience to his work. He has managed complex, public construction projects, including an airport fire rescue facility. In addition to municipal work, Zel has been responsible for educational facilities, multi-family residential and retail. He has a special interest in sustainable design and works closely with clients to incorporate sustainability measures into a project’s design. Zel's work at Context includes a series of renovations to Chelsea's historic municipal buildings and a new Uxbridge Fire Headquarters. Zel, a registered Architect in Massachusetts,  holds a B. Arch. from Cooper Union, and is a past winner of Architectural Record’s Cocktail Napkin Sketch Contest for his sketch of Casa Mila in Barcelona.

Elizabeth Apeldoorn | Job Captain

Joining Context Architecture in 2013, Elizabeth has contributed to a number of major architectural projects in Massachusetts, including Newton's Fire Station #10, the Weston Police Station, and North Andover's historic Town Hall Renovations. More recently, she has been responsible for construction oversight of two dispatch facility renovations. She has experience on educational, civic, and residential projects, with a strong emphasis in Revit/BIM. Her professional experience includes work at Jonathan Levi Architects and Burt Hill in Boston and Dubai, UAE. Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Northeastern University and her Master of Architecture from the Glasgow School of Art.

Dikla Liberman Mileguir | Designer

Dikla is a Designer at Context Architecture. She has worked on multiple projects for the firm, including the North Andover Fire Station and a Police Station Feasibility Study for the Town of Bedford. More recently, her projects include the construction administration of the Uxbridge and Leicester Fire Stations. Dikla is a licensed architect in Israel and has over 12 years of experience. She has led a diverse range of projects for various firms within the U.S. and overseas – from running her own business in Irvine, California, to leading the renovation and preservation of a 150-year-old convent in Jerusalem. Dikla has a Bachelor of Architecture from Tel Aviv University and Masters of Science in Construction Management from Northeastern University.

Steven McCormack, LEED Green Associate | Designer

Steven is a Designer skilled in building documentation and production. His agility with building information modeling (BIM) software helps project teams to quickly visualize and explore design ideas early in the process. Steven’s project experience includes K-12 school design, residential developments and commercial buildings. At Context he has worked on new Fire Stations for the Towns of Leicester, Burlington, and Westford, MA. Steven is a LEED Green Associate whose work is informed by his passion for green technology and sustainable design. He holds a BS in Architectural Design & Building from State University of New York, College of Technology at Delhi, where he was also an assistant soccer coach for two seasons.

Nicole Groleau, LEED AP | Job Captain

Nicole comes to Context with extensive experience in the design of a range of municipal buildings, as well as public, independent, and higher educational institutions. A versatile team member, Nicole is involved in all phases of a project, from programming through production to construction administration. She has played a key role in the design of a new Fire Station #2 in Burlington. Nicole earned a B.Arch from Mississippi State University where, she says, the winters were a little more forgiving. Outside the office, Nicole shares her enthusiasm and skill for design and the built environment through her volunteer work with KidsBuild, a hands-on program that introduces children to design, and she is also Council Treasurer for Faith Lutheran Church in Cambridge. 

Kenneth Propp | Job Captain

Ken is an experienced and skilled Job Captain and Designer known for his skill shepherding projects from schematic design through construction. With technical expertise that includes designing, detailing and managing documents in a range of CAD and graphics platforms, he is adept at delivering coordinated and complete architectural documents. Ken’s recent project experience includes educational, medical and commercial projects. At Context, he is a key team member for the design of a new Medford Police Headquarters. Ken holds an M.Arch and BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art & Design.

Hailley Becker | Designer

Hailley’s recent experience includes complex commercial projects taken from design through construction and close-out. A detail-oriented Designer, he is especially skilled at producing 3-D renderings that help clients both visualize and communicate about projects and is actively engaged on the design of two public safety projects at Context. Hailley holds both a BS in Architectural Design and an M.Arch from Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he focused on community and contextual design.  A recipient of a Rotary Youth Leadership Award, Hailley is active in community service, participating in recent CANstruction teams, as well as the Wentworth AIA club.

Frayan Gonzalez | Designer

Frayan’s eye for detail and skill with 2-D and 3-D design and modeling is a terrific asset for Context’s design teams. He provides support office-wide with carefully executed presentation materials that translate complicated architectural drawings into clean, straightforward plans. Frayan’s varied experience includes visual merchandising for a national clothing retailer and designing a full-size toy prototype for elephants in a local zoo. Frayan holds a BFA in Architectural Design from the Massachusetts College of Art & Design, where he was active in the AIA Student Chapter.

Susan Elmore, CPSM | Director of Marketing

Susan is a seasoned marketing professional with more than 25 years of experience working with Boston area firms.  She is responsible for crafting and maintaining the firm’s message through project stories, news items, the website and social media, as well as targeted proposals.  She is a Certified Professional Services Marketer and Co-chair of the Marketing Wizards Committee of the Boston Society of Architects, and holds an MS in Mass Communication from Boston University and a BA in English and Communications from Boston College.  When not writing about architecture, Susan dabbles in memoir writing, chronicling her many “madeleine moments.”

Stuart Goldman | Chief Financial Officer 

Stuart began working with Context Architecture as an outside consultant, supporting the firm’s accounting and IT staff. In 2002, he became the Controller, continuing to expand and improve the firm’s financial reporting capabilities until 2005 when Stuart was named Chief Financial Officer. Stuart earned a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and an Master of Science in Taxation from Bentley University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Public Accountants. 

Lynn Colbert | Office Manager

Lynn is responsible for all of Context office operations, including Human Resources, supervision of all administrative personnel, Accounts Payable and Receivables, and vendor relations. She holds a Master of Business Management and a Bachelor of Business Administration.
