Middleton Municipal Complex
About
Location: Middleton, MA
Size: 42,275 sq. ft. (P.S.B.)
21,600 sq. ft. (Town Hall)
Status: Completed in 2026
The Middleton Municipal Complex consists of two new buildings and a Town Common, creating a unified site for town offices and public safety services. The project includes a Public Safety Building, housing both police and fire operations, and a Town Hall & Community Center, which consolidates all town offices and the council on aging under one roof. These buildings are anchored by a newly established Town Common along South Main Street, a key thoroughfare in Middleton.
The site design prioritizes connectivity to public open spaces, walking trails, and surrounding natural habitats, enhancing accessibility and engagement with the landscape. The design process involved comprehensive programming and multiple design iterations to help the town refine the project scope and define the identity of its municipal complex. Strategic site planning has optimized building placement to minimize site work and manage construction costs effectively. Additionally, the design team has maximized efficiencies by integrating shared spaces and consolidating program elements, fostering a cohesive and resource-conscious municipal hub.
