Active listening is our priority. Our designs begin with a fundamental desire to produce inspired, timeless architecture that serves both the client and the public. This requires a tuned sensitivity to the perceptions of a community – to their beliefs, needs, and core values. As a result, a core value of our firm is active listening.

We value working with groups of people. A client for us is a group of individuals held together by the common goal of making a building a powerful resource, one with the potential to create amazingly unique and transformative architecture. We are well versed in working with clients that include key stakeholders as well as the public and are ignited by the possibilities that these types of projects can bring to life.

We make sure your buildings are functional & beautiful. Successful buildings achieve more than the merit of beauty. They perform the role for which they were designed and are well thought through, with planned space use that complements future growth and transformation. We believe that our clients care just as deeply for success in these areas as they do for an attractive building.

We believe buildings should stand the test of time. The form of the building, its size, and chosen materials all affect its ability to last. The process of designing buildings is a constant test of our abilities as architects to weigh complex problems and propose elegant solutions resulting in the purest form of sustainability.

Creative problem solving is our wheelhouse. We can confidently say that our buildings are designed with creative problem solving in mind and have come from innovative and exciting solutions, all while keeping beauty, practicality and affordability in mind.

Over the course of the firm’s 50-year history, Context Architecture has promoted sustainability as an integral part of the design process.  Principal Jeff Shaw and several key staff members hold LEED accreditation and the firm is a member of the U.S. Green Buildings Council. Our firm has also completed one LEED Gold and three LEED Silver Certified projects.

Most of our work in the last 15 years could have been LEED Certified, many at the Silver level, though some clients have chosen not to officially pursue Certification.
